DEBAK: A new road project is in the proposal stage to significantly shorten the travel distance between Kampung Debak Laut, Buda, and Dit, thanks to allocations from the Betong Divisional Development Agency (BDDA).

Deputy Minister for Women, Childhood and Community Wellbeing Development, Datuk Mohamad Razi Sitam noted the positive impact that robust infrastructure, like the proposed Jalan Suri-Tuie, can have on the potential of the region.

Jalan Suri-Tuie, developed through Projek Rakyat, has already demonstrated its impact by clearing land for agricultural use.

“In light of this, through development expenditure (DE) by BDDA, I recommend the construction of a road that connects Kampung Debak Laut to Kampung Buda and then to Kampung Dit. This will significantly shorten the communication route,” he said during the inauguration of the Jasamu Dikenang ceremony and the joint meeting of community leaders (KMKK) at Dewan Millenia on Friday (Feb 2).

He further elaborated that numerous high-impact projects are in the pipeline for development in the Saribas State Legislative Assembly, emphasising the overflow of projects his constituency has received.

“I’m confident that many development projects will be directed to Saribas. Any claims of a lack of projects are baseless. I believe that Sarawak will continue to progress under the leadership of Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg.”

Razi sought the cooperation of all KMKK to ensure ongoing projects adhere to specifications and are completed within the scheduled timelines.

He urged vigilance in monitoring projects, regardless of their scale, to prevent contractors from deviating from specifications.

“We will intensify efforts to improve the implementation aspects of each project in Saribas. As leaders, we must not shy away from challenges. When issues arise, let’s discuss and resolve them together.”
