DARO (Sept 17): The week-long Pulau Bruit Festival 2024, which concluded last Sunday, recorded sales of RM200,000.
Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), in a report, said Deputy Minister in Sarawak Premier’s Department (Corporate Affairs, Information, and Ukas) Datuk Abdullah Saidol officiated at the closing ceremony at the Semop Rural Growth Centre (RGC), where some 5,000 residents of Pulau Bruit and the surrounding areas had gathered.
In his speech, Abdullah said this year’s festival stimulated the local economy through the participation of local entrepreneurs in the trade exhibitions and entrepreneurial activities.
The Semop assemblyman regarded the RM200,000 sales figure as reflecting the success of this edition of the annual event, which meant not only to strengthen community ties but also encourage the growth of small local businesses.
“With such enthusiastic response, I am confident that this festival will continue to become a major attraction that not only strengthens community bonds, but also attracts investors and visitors from outside the area, further boosting the economic development of Pulau Bruit.
The closing ceremony was enlivened by cultural performances by the Seri Tandi Troupe, and also an entertainment showcase featuring renowned artistes Bob Yusuf, Ir Radzi and Fyza Busman, as well as several local performing talents.
With a ‘Mini Agrofest’ concept, Pulau Bruit Festival 2024 highlighted agricultural and fisheries products, including local products such as ‘Lumek Salai’ and ‘Sesar Unjur’.
Moreover, various interesting activities also took place, related to sports, culture, education, and entrepreneurship.
