When a video surfaced of a teenager being abused by a group of other teenagers on motorcycles, concerns were raised.

Did the incident happen in Sarawak as depicted?

In a statement, Kota Samarahan OCPD Deputy Supt Brodie Brangka confirmed that the bullying happened in front of a school in Kota Samaran, Sarawak.

"On Nov 28, at 10pm, the police detected a 15-second video on social media which shows a teenager being harassed by a group of teenagers.

"Kota Samarahan police confirmed that they received a police report from the victim on Nov 29 and arrested two principal suspects aged 16 and 17," he said.

He said that an investigation paper has been opened, and the case is being investigated under Section 323 of the penal code for voluntarily causing hurt and Section 506 of the penal code for criminal intimidation.

The former carries a prison sentence of up to one year, a fine of up to RM2,000 or both. The latter has a prison sentence of up to two years, a fine or both.

DSP Brodie said the police will continue its investigation, and the investigation papers will be brought to the Attorney General's Department for further instructions.

He then said that the public should not speculate on the incident or spread negative comments on social media.
