KUCHING (July 15): Rescuers found missing fisherman Isa Yusuf @ Ong Kim Huat at Pulau Burung, Sebuyau today.
A Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said the 65-year-old was found safe at around 9.15am.
“The Kilat 35 boat from the Malaysian Maritime Enforcement Agency (MMEA) was heading out from Muara Tebas jetty and was conducting a search at Pulau Burung.
“During the search, the team found the victim on the island,” said the spokesperson in a statement.
Isa was then handed over to medical personnel in Sebuyau for a health assessment.
He was reported missing yesterday after he failed to return home from a fishing trip last Friday.
It is understood that fishermen often take shelter at Pulau Burung during unfavourable weather and sea conditions.
