Rescuers save youth from Sibu flood water pump station beam

SIBU (Aug 5): Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) and police personnel here managed to save a 22-year-old man from a beam at a flood water pump station here last night.

The Sarawak Bomba operations centre said 10 firefighters from Sibu Central fire station were despatched to the location after receiving a report at 10.22pm.

“The operation commander conducted a size up and instructed Bomba personnel to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) to coax the man.

“The man descended from the beam after Bomba and police managed to coax him after almost three hours,” the statement said.

The youth was handed over to the police for further action.

The operation ended at 1.30am.
