KUCHING (Aug 25): Residents of Rh Buja and Rh Maria Balin in Kampung Marubong, Engkelili were evacuated after the area was inundated on Sunday.
A spokesperson from the Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) operations centre said 45 residents from Rh Buja and 87 from Rh Maria Balin were evacuated to SK Merbong, located on a hill near the longhouses.
“It was found the water rose by three feet at 4am and continue to rise up to five feet as of 10.50am,” he said in a statement.
As of 11.50am, weather conditions in the area were reported to be cloudy.
