SRI AMAN, 17 September: The Student Integration Plan for Unification (RIMUP) programme continues to be an important platform in fostering the spirit of unification among students since school days.
Dato' Sri Doris Sophia Brodie, Member of Parliament for Sri Aman said that the programme provides a space for students, families and communities to interact and understand racial, religious and cultural diversity through shared experience.
"When students play, compete, work and collaborate, they learn that racial, religious, linguistic and cultural differences are not an obstacle to standing as a team as children of Sarawak and Malaysians.
"The approach to learning through experience or experiential learning also provides value that should not be obtained only through textbooks", he said when inaugurating SK Tanjung Bijat's RIMUP Programme 2026 today.
According to him, RIMUP carries a message that differences of religion, race and background should not be an obstacle for communities to live together in harmony.
He said that engaging students in various activities together can help them understand diversity through real experience, as well as forming values of cooperation and mutual respect.
In the digital age, he said, younger generations need not only to excel academically, but also have civility, empathy, critical thinking and a sense of responsibility as citizens.
He also recalled that patriotism is not only about spreading the Glorious Path, but it must be translated through action and love for the homeland.
"Proud to be a child of Sarawak and at the same time proud to be a Malaysian.
"I hope that RIMUP will continue to cultivate unity, build character and shape a mature, responsible and united future generation", he said. - TVS
