KUCHING (Sept 2): An allocation of RM350,000 has been approved for two initiatives under the 2025 Rural Transformation Programme (RTP) grant for enhancing facilities in Kampung Pengkalan Bau.
Deputy Minister of Transport Dato Henry Harry Jinep, as quoted by Sarawak Public Communications Unit (Ukas), said RM200,000 would be allocated for the construction of a new multipurpose hall, and an additional RM150,000 would be designated for building new futsal and sepak takraw courts.
“The construction of these new facilities is part of a short-term plan in line with a previous request to the state government to develop the village into two separate settlements: Kampung Pengkalan Bau and Kampung Loji Bau,” the Tasik Biru assemblyman said in his speech for the opening ceremony of the ‘Novice Sepak Takraw League’ in Kampung Pengkalan Bau last Saturday.
Henry also proposed a new road as part of a long-term strategy.
This road, according to him, would be connected to the main highway, improving access for residents to go to Bau town.
In this regard, he expressed hope that the landowners would agree to provide the necessary land for this development.
Additionally, Henry also suggested that an open sepak takraw tournament be carried out at Bau Mini Stadium, upon the completion of all the renovation works next year.
Also present were the Malay Penghulu for Bau District Wahab Mainol, Ketua Kaum of Kampung Pengkalan Bau Zainal Mat, and Kampung Pengkalan Bau sports bureau head Wahab Joni.
