RM49 million allocated for 19 development projects in Kabong

KUCHING, 22 Sept: A total of 19 development projects involving RM49 million allocation ceilings are listed for DUN Kabong area.

Member of the National Assembly (ADUN) Kabong, Dato Mohd Chee Kadir said that the matter was discussed in the Display Coordination Meeting held at Committee Room 2, Aras 3, Sarawak State Legislative Assembly yesterday.

According to him, the meeting was chaired by Sarawak Implementation Monitoring Unit (SIMU) to discuss status of deployment and implementation of development projects in DUN Kabong area.

"Of the 19 projects, 16 were implemented by the Department of Public Works (JKR), while three more under Saratok District Council (MDS), out of a total of 49 projects involving eight DUN areas.

"Among the main projects listed are construction and upgrading of facilities at Tanjung Kembang Beach, Conqueror Center at Gerigat Beach, Anjung Selera and Homestay Association of Kabong Area Fishermen as well as Operations Office of Our Brother Unit Nyabor", he said.

Following are the construction of the Boat Terminal in Sungai Endot and Kampung Emplam, Jeti Nelayan Kampung Gerigat, Nyabor Village Community Hall as well as RC Ramp in Kampung Hilir Laut.

In addition, several village halls and long houses in Kabong and Ulu Roban areas are also included in the development list, among them at Kampung Alit, Kampung Gerigat, Kampung Emplam and Kampung Sessage.

However, the implementation status of the project is still different when some are at 'Belum Mohon' stage, while several other projects including in Tanjung Kembang Beach, Jeti fishing Kampung Gerigat and RC Ramp Kampung Hilir Laut are still 'Waiting for Approval'.

Mohd Chee hopes that issues related to the placement raised by the executive agencies can be coordinated with relevant parties to ensure the process of implementation of development projects in DUN Kabong runs smoothly.

He also paid attention to the status of each project so that the planned development can be continued according to the process and regulations established. -TVS
