Road upgrade project at Jalan Bukit Besai 4 in Sibu completed

SIBU (Aug 23): The road upgrading works under the Rural Transformation Projects (RTP) at Jalan Bukit Besai 4, Bawang Assan here has been completed.

Sarawak United People’s Party (SUPP) Bawang Assan Community Development team leader Kevin Lau led his team members to inspect the completed road project yesterday.

Lau, who is also Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC) Environment and Public Health Standing Committee chairman, said his team conducted an initial inspection of the site in April this year and the project was later handed over to a contractor on July 23.

“There are several ongoing upgrading projects including the installation of gabion retaining walls and road repairs around the Bawang Assan area.

“We will closely monitor all the ongoing and upcoming RTP projects to ensure that these projects are completed in time,” he said.

According to him, his SRDC team and engineers had also visited the low-lying areas in Ensurai and were looking into upgrading these areas using the RTP funds.

“Our responsibilities are to utilise these funds effectively to address the urgent needs of the area and prioritise the welfare of the residents,” he said, while thanking all related agencies for their close cooperation in implementing the projects.
