SIBU, Dec 3: Police here are investigating the desecration of seven graves at the Iban Cemetery, Bukit Kakang Pasai Teng.

Sibu District Police Chief ACP Zulkipli Suhaili said today that the estimated loss is reported to be around RM13,500.

They received a report regarding the incident from a 50-year-old woman yesterday.

The woman had discovered that her parents’ graves had been desecrated at 10.30am on the same day.

“The incident was first realised by the complainant and her aunt when visiting the graves of her parents in the cemetery.

“The complainant also reported that various items in her mother’s grave, including jewelry, were also stolen,” he said.

Based on the reports made, he said, a police team from the Criminal Investigation Division (BSJN) of the Sibu District Police Headquarters (IPD) then rushed to investigate the cemetery and found that about seven graves had been ransacked and damaged by irresponsible individuals.
