SRI AMAN, 22 September: Cooking skills are not just a daily activity, they have social and economic value that can benefit rural communities.

Sri Aman MP, Dato Sri Doris Sophia Brodie said it could promote healthy eating, preserve traditional recipes and strengthen family ties.

"In addition to everyday use, cooking skills can also be used to generate income through the food business from home, catering, outlets and production of traditional food products.

"The development of the local food industry also benefits farmers, fishermen and ranchers, besides potentially contributing to the tourism sector", he said.

He said this while attending the Family Health Kitchen Course Suspension Meeting organized by KEMAS Sri Aman at Rami Jaritan House, Sebemban Asal, yesterday.

He said that cooking is no longer just for women because many famous cafés in leading restaurants and hotels are made up of men.

Touching on the State Election (PRN), he called upon the people to give support to the Sarawak Union Party (GPS) to ensure the continuity of development of Sri Aman in particular and Sarawak as a whole.

"The RM1.5 billion allocation announced by the Prime Minister recently is an interim measure while the formula set out under Article 112D was finalized through ongoing negotiations between the Federal Government and the Sarawak Government", he said.
