RWMF winning slogan writer drives away with Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 VGT AT

KUCHING: The Rainforest World Music Festival (RWMF) 2024 Skill Contest celebrated two fortunate festival-goers with remarkable prizes for their creative slogans about the festival.

First-time attendee of Sarawak’s premier annual event, Edwin Francis, won the Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 VGT AT Premium for his winning slogan: “I like the Rainforest World Music Festival because it’s a magical convergence of music, nature, and diversity, creating unforgettable experiences and connections.”

Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, Edwin said despite being in the event industry for a long time, he never had the chance to visit Sarawak to experience the magic of RWMF.

“This year’s event was my first RWMF. I told myself that I have to go to watch Kitaro. In fact, I already booked a hotel room for next year’s RWMF right after the date announcement,” he said during the prize handover ceremony for the RWMF 2024 Skill Contest at Plaza Aurora today.

Another lucky festival-goer, Muhammad Farihiin Abdul Latif, won the Ebixon Bold EV Bike.

His winning slogan was: “I like the Rainforest World Music Festival because it unites diverse cultures, champions sustainability, and showcases mesmerising global musical traditions in a captivating celebration.”

The Selangor resident attended the festival 10 years ago and returned this year with his family.

“I went to the RWMF ten years ago and came back this year. With the rain during the festival, everything fell into place. I really enjoyed it and will be coming again next year,” he said.

Expressing gratitude to the sponsors Mitsubishi Motors Malaysia and MyUS Autotech Sdn Bhd, who made the contest possible, Sarawak Tourism Board (STB) chief executive officer (CEO) Sharzede Salleh Askor said their contributions have significantly enhanced the festival experience, providing memorable rewards for attendees.

She thanked the festival-goers for participating in the eventful festival, noting that next year’s RWMF will bring a warm meaning to all attendees.

“We had a wonderful event this year that garnered about 26,000 festival-goers.

“We are on the right track. The trajectory of our iconic event is gaining more interest now,” she said.

This year’s contest, held from April 27 to June 30, garnered participation from festival-goers.

To enter, participants were required to purchase either a 1-Day Adult Pass, priced between RM235 and RM333, or a three-day adult pass for RM635 for the festival. Each one-day pass holder stood a chance to win an Ebixon Bold EV Bike valued at RM12,000.

Meanwhile, three-day pass holders had the opportunity to win the grand prize of a Mitsubishi Triton 4×4 VGT AT Premium worth RM137,900.

Entry required attendees to submit their RWMF 2024 e-ticket number, provide personal details, and answer two questions: identifying the festival’s anniversary year and explaining in 20 words why they like the Rainforest World Music Festival.

On another note, building on the success of RWMF 2024, the STB announced that the RWMF 2025 will be held from June 20 to 22, 2025.

The upcoming festival promises to be even more spectacular, with the theme of ‘Connection’ taking centre stage.
