Salvation Army lauded for rescuing abandoned children

KUCHING: Kota Samarahan Municipal Council (MPKS) chairman Datuk Peter Minos has lauded the Salvation Army for their work in rescuing and caring for abandoned children.

In a statement today (Dec 17), he described the Kota Samarahan Salvation Army as ‘a godsend’ and ‘graced by God’ for providing shelter, sustenance and care for abandoned children.

“Currently 61 abandoned children are being cared for and loved at Salvation Army in Kota Samarahan, all relying on public support and donations.

“Imagine a group of highly dedicated people spending their time, money and effort for the care and love of neglected and abandoned children. Not many of us like to be in their shoes,” he said.

Adding further, Minos commended the dedication of the volunteers, acknowledging their commitment to enhancing the well-being of these children with thousands of volunteers across more than 120 countries.

Citing Captain Raymond, head of the Salvation Army in Kota Samarahan, Minos echoed Raymond’s sentiments, emphasising the challenging nature of their mission and the essential role of public support in achieving their goals.

Over the weekend, Minos was invited as the Salvation Army’s guest of honour at their Charity Christmas Dinner.
