SERIAN (July 12): The state government through Sarawak Economic Development Corporation (SEDC) is currently operating and building six charging stations throughout the state to encourage the use of electric vehicles (EVs), said Datuk Len Talif Salleh.

The Natural Resources and Urban Development Deputy Minister said the stations will be used by various EVs, such as hybrid plug-ins, hybrids and full EVs.

“The first station is currently operating at Darul Hana, Petra Jaya. Other stations will be at several strategic locations in Daro, Pusa, Kapit, Sibu and Miri.

“This is meant to accommodate EV users and encourage more Sarawakians to use EV,” he added.

He said this when officiating at the closing ceremony of the educational workshop for advisory teachers of Kelab Pencinta Alam Sekitar (PALS) held at a hotel here today.

Speaking at the event, Len Talif said teachers play a vital role in raising awareness, understanding and responsibility regarding environmental issues among students.

“I hope students will become more sensitive individuals who practise a lifestyle that supports environmental sustainability,” he expressed.

A total of 85 teachers from PALS throughout the state participated in the educational workshop, which took place from July 9 until 12.
