KUCHING: About 1,000 participants, including prominent global leaders from 37 countries attended the Global Muslim Business Forum (GMBF) 2023 gala dinner held at Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) tonight.

Organized by KSI Strategic Institute for Asia Pacific, Islamic Chamber of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture, and Global One, the forum aims to be a hub of knowledge for governments, corporations and civil society to explore best and innovative practices in various domains such as Islamic finance, green technology and agriculture.

Themed ‘Innovations and Transformation in Islamic Economies’, the three-day forum from Nov 28 to 30 will feature keynote speeches by Muslim World leaders, plenary sessions, workshops and awards ceremony.

Among the objectives of the forum is to bridge the Muslim world by forging stronger connections and partnerships, particularly in the Middle East, Asia and the rest of the world.

It is also aimed at encouraging value-based result-oriented initiatives and programmes for social and economic impact for upliftment of poverty, and the promotion of social entrepreneurship and business endeavours.

Prime Minister Datuk Seri Anwar Ibrahim officiated the first day of the forum, alongside Premier Sarawak Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg and Vice President of the Republic of Indonesia Prof Dr Ma’aruf Amin, who represented President Joko Widodo.

On Wednesday (Nov 29), Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Plantation and Commodities Datuk Seri Fadillah Yusof will deliver a special address.

There will also be a presentation of GMBF International Islamic Icons, Philanthropy, and Lifetime Achievement Awards on the second day.

Through GMBF, the governments, corporations, international organisations, investors and civil society can convene to discuss, deliberate and debate on key issues, which is an avenue for them to connect, collaborate and contribute.

The Forum will provide insights as well as spotlight on the latest trends in various sectors, making it an ideal platform to connect between the Muslim World and the non-Muslim community.
