KUCHING, Sept. 22: Sarawak should be seen as a large family that requires financial planning, asset development and long-term investment to ensure its benefits can be passed on to future generations.

The Chief Political Secretary to the Prime Minister of Sarawak, Dato Fazzrudin Abdul Rahman said that the approach of the Government of Sarawak in managing state development is based on the same principles as a family managing income for today's needs, building assets and preparing a better future for grandchildren.

"As a family, not only do we use income for today's needs, but we also need to build assets, educate children and save for the future. So is the way we see Sarawak as a big family", he said.

He said this while addressing the Explanation and Explanation of Issues during the 'Achievement Initiative of Government of Sarawak' at the Sarawak State Library, here today.

According to Fazzrudin, every initiative implemented by the government should be comprehensively understood as development is not only related to physical projects but also involves investment in human capital, education, economy and basic people's facilities.

He said that the development results implemented may not all be felt directly in a short period of time, but the effects of flooding will benefit society in the long run.

"Sometimes we don't see the results today, but what we are building now is to ensure that our children and grandchildren enjoy a better life in the future", she says. - TVS
