KUCHING (Oct 21): The Sarawak Government has officially launched the Entrepreneur Database System (Enbase), a comprehensive platform designed to support entrepreneurs across the state.

Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Tengah Ali Hasan explained that the database serves as a one-stop platform to generate analyses and reports for the Sarawak Government, enabling holistic planning and research based on the real needs of the state’s entrepreneurial ecosystem.

“Through Enbase, the Sarawak Government can ensure that specialised programmes such as financial assistance, capacity building, and product promotion reach the right target groups, including rural communities.

“We also emphasised the importance of Bumiputera entrepreneurs adopting best practices and the latest technologies, including ESG (environmental, social and governance) principles, to enhance productivity and strengthen competitiveness,” he said during a press conference after chairing the Sarawak Entrepreneur Development Coordination Committee (SEDCC) meeting and launching of Enbase at a local hotel here today.

Awang Tengah, who is also Sarawak’s Minister for International Trade and Investment (Mintred) and Second Minister for Natural Resources and Urban Development, highlighted the necessity of improving productivity across all sectors, including small and medium enterprises (SMEs). This follows discussions earlier in the SEDCC meeting, where several reports were reviewed.

He also mentioned that through collaboration with the Ministry of Entrepreneur Development and Cooperatives (Kuskop), a grant for this year’s Phase One Premises Development Programme (Tamu Desa) has been provided by the federal ministry.

“We are hopeful that this programme will continue next year. My ministry is committed to driving its implementation,” he added, noting that some projects have already been completed, while others are still in progress or at the planning stage.

Among those present at the event were Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports, and Entrepreneur Development Datuk Dr Ripin Lamat and Deputy Minister of International Trade, Industry, and Investment Datuk Dr Malcolm Mussen Lamoh.
