Sarawak Oil Palms staff, family members join social hiking at Lambir Hills National Park

MIRI (Sept 23): Some 170 participants comprising employees of Sarawak Oil Palms (SOP) and their family members participated in the ‘Kasi Jadi Social Hiking’ recreational activity last Saturday.

The programme brought SOP staff from various departments and locations across Sarawak, as well as their family members, to Lambir Hills National Park for a morning of healthy living, outdoor adventure and meaningful connections.

Participants gathered early in the morning before setting off along two designated hiking routes, enjoying the scenic trails and waterfalls of the national park.

SOP said the activity formed part of its effort to promote camaraderie among employees while encouraging a healthy lifestyle.

The company said the activity went more beyond recreation, with the programme underscoring its commitment to employee wellbeing and fostering stronger relationships across its workforce.

It added that introducing a different hiking location this year provided participants with a fresh experience while instilling teamwork and unity beyond the workplace.

Senior Sales and Distribution manager Jack Jong said he was delighted to see strong turnout for the activity.

“It is encouraging to witness staff from across Sarawak coming together in support of a shared commitment to health, teamwork and employee wellbeing,” he said.

The programme concluded with participants reporting back to the working committee after safely completing their respective trails, followed by lunch, bringing the programme to a memorable close.

SOP said it would continue to organise initiatives such as the social hiking activity to cultivate a workplace culture that values well-being, unity, and meaningful connections among its people across the state.
