KUCHING: The Sarawak Pan Borneo Highway project has reached an impressive 98 per cent completion rate, with the entire stretch of highway expected to be fully open to the public by the end of the year.

Work Minister Datuk Seri Alexander Nanta Linggi said that as of now, 19 out of the 25 highway sections have been completed and are open to the public.

He said the Bukit Bengunan section under Contract Work Package 04 is anticipated to be fully completed by the end of December.

“Additionally, the five sections of Sarikei (WPC06), Tatau and Bintulu (WPC10), Beluru, and the 34.5-km Lambir stretch (WPC11) are set to be fully completed by the first quarter of 2024,” he said.

He said this when speaking at the Pan Borneo Highway Sarawak Dreams Become Reality dinner at the Borneo Convention Centre Kuching (BCCK) last night (Dec 3).

Nanta thanked Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, acknowledging his leadership for enabling the implementation of numerous federal infrastructure development projects in Sarawak.

He stressed that the success of development plans relies heavily on political stability at both the state and national levels.

“Sarawak has a distinct advantage in achieving this due to its prioritisation of unity among the people, a crucial factor in establishing sustainable political stability and driving the state’s economy forward,” he said.
