KUCHING: Sarawak bagged the gold in tenpin bowling at the Malaysia Games (Sukma 2024) through Nur Hazirah Ramli yesterday (Aug 15), boosting the state’s gold tally to three.
Hazirah was in top form, amassing 1,261 points to narrowly edge out Selangor’s Adian Mohd Redzwan by seven points.
According to Hazirah, this victory is her final gift to Sarawak in Sukma, as this is her last year she is competing in the event.
“It has always been my dream to win the gold medal in the women’s singles, especially at this year’s Sukma.
“Thank God, I was able to achieve this goal while making the people and state of Sarawak proud with this gold medal.
“Of course, for the upcoming events, I will maintain this momentum and give my best, especially in the masters event,” she said.
The path to victory wasn’t easy, as Hazirah revealed the intense effort behind her success.
“Training was exhausting, especially with so many tournaments leading up to this. But being on home ground pushed me to give it my all, and it was absolutely worth it,” she added.
However, it wasn’t all joy for Sarawak, as teammate Claudia Kumang Jakson, who had been in third place, and Fan Yew Tsen in the men’s singles, were both nudged out of podium contention by the fierce competition in the third squad.
