SIBU (Oct 14): The local branch of Sarawak Society for the Blind (SSB) held its 46th Open House at its Jalan Bukit Lima centre here yesterday.

The patron for the branch, Dato Ding Lian Cheon, officiated at the event, which featured some 30 stalls selling food and beverages, local products and household items.

SSB Sibu deputy chairman Datin Sri Judy Lau, in her speech, said the annual event meant to raise funds to cover the running of the centre’s activities and also to meet operational costs for the year.

“We thanked all donors, sponsors, supporters and participants for your kindness, cooperation and support,” she said.

SSB Sibu has been serving the visually impaired and blind communities all across the central region of Sarawak since its establishment in 1963.

The event was also attended by SSB Sibu chairman Clarence Ting.
