Sarawak team on technical visit to Singapore to observe set-up of arts and war museums

SINGAPORE: The Ministry of Tourism, Creative Industry, and Performing Arts of Sarawak (MTCP) is conducting a technical visit to Singapore to study the set-up, planning, implementation, and management of arts museums, galleries, and war-related museums in Singapore.

Led by its minister Datuk Seri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah from July 2 to 5, the visit is strategically aimed at gaining valuable insights into the various aspects of managing arts museums and galleries.

“This includes understanding the set-up, planning, implementation, and management processes. The delegation aims to learn best practices that can be applied to the development of the Sarawak Arts Museum, Sarawak Arts Gallery and RASCOM Museum,” it said in a press release issued today.

During their time in Singapore, the delegation discussed with representatives from the Singapore National Heritage Board (NHB), focusing on NHB’s pivotal role in the preservation, promotion, and management of Singapore’s rich cultural and historical heritage.

The outcomes of this visit are expected to enrich Sarawak’s cultural landscape. By establishing a strong foundation for its arts museums, galleries, and war-related museums, Sarawak aims to bolster its cultural and historical preservation efforts, ultimately benefiting both residents and tourists alike.

Also joining the delegation is MTCP Deputy Minister Datuk Snowdan Lawan, MTCP permanent secretary Datuk Sherrina Hussaini, chief executive officer of Sarawak Arts Council Dayang Mariana Abang Bolhassan, Sarawak Museum Department director Nancy Jolhi.
