Satok rep participates in ‘ibadah korban’

KUCHING: Satok assemblyman Datuk Ibrahim Baki took part in the ‘ibadah korban’ (Islamic ritual sacrifice) during Hari Raya Aidiladha today (June 17).

The event was marked by the participation of several community branches throughout the Kuching area.

It included those from Segedup Rimba, Segedup, Sungai Maong, Kudei Lama, Muda Hashim B, Bintangor Besar and local mosques.

Ibrahim also took the opportunity to engage with the community during the occasion.

Meanwhile, Muslims around the world celebrate the Hari Raya Aidiladha today.

Also known as Hari Raya Haji, it is a Muslim festival that falls on the tenth day of Zulhijjah (the 12th month in the Islamic calendar).

It commemorates the willingness of the Islamic prophet Ibrahim, who was prepared to sacrifice his son, Ismail in an act of obedience to Allah.

One of the main rituals of the celebration is the ‘korban’, which involves the sacrificial slaughtering of livestock.
