SIBU (Aug 26): The 31 participants of the digital training workshop here generated a total sales of RM3,181 within a short span of 10 minutes.

According to the organising chairman Sammy Dennis, participants were asked to promote their products to those in their phonebook.

The two-day training was held at a hotel here, which ended yesterday evening, was organised by Sarawak Dayak National Union (SDNU) Sibu’s Economic Development Bureau.

Sammy, who is also SDNU Sibu’s Economic Development Bureau chief, was elated to note of the good response.

“The training workshop is open to both SDNU Sibu members as well as non-members.

“SDNU plays a role in the social and economic aspects of the Dayak community, which requires renewal to develop the community.

“In line with the digital economy, SDNU aims to enrich the knowledge of the Dayak community in the area of digital marketing to promote their products and for a wider outreach.”

Sammy said this was the first time SDNU Sibu organised a digital marketing workshop.

“During the programme, all the participants were asked by the trainers to conduct a hard sale by promoting their products to those in their handphone contacts.

“And within a short span of 10 minutes, the participants generated a total sales of RM3,181.”

Senator Robert Lau, who officiated the event, highlighted it as a good opportunity for acquiring new knowledge.

He emphasised the importance of continuous learning, noting that everyone has their own preferred methods.

“For me, I read a lot,” he shared.

Lau also congratulated SDNU Sibu for organising the programme, praising its benefits for both the members and the broader Sibu community.

SDNU Sibu chairman, Chambai Lindong, also spoke at the function.

The trainers were Edwin Engbat Gara and Dr Kennedy Paing.
