Deputy Minister of Youth and Sports, Mordi Bimal said that the remaining preparations will be continued over the next six months to ensure all facilities are in ready condition before the start of matches.
"In terms of facilities, the preparations are currently at about 40 percent and we expect everything to be fully completed by the first quarter of next year, which is around March.
"Once completed, we will conduct tests to ensure that all these facilities can function as they should so that there are no problems on the actual day of SEA Games", he said.
He said this after the launch of the One-Septh Accounts Opening Ceremony to the 34th SEA Games and 14th ASEAN Games in 2027, here today.
According to Mordi, testing of the finished facility will be carried out to identify any shortcomings early and allow repairs to be made before the timetable is in place.
He said the preparations also included operational and facilities aspects to ensure that the maintenance needs can be met when the issue starts.
In the meantime, Mordi said, the tumultuous situation in Sarawak at this time does not affect the preparations for the visit of both themes.
"It's a little rough now, but in terms of preparation there's no problem. We have also taken precautionary measures to ensure that if there is a storm at the time, we already know what action should be taken", he said.
Meanwhile, Mordi said the athlete's well-being was also taken into consideration including in terms of accommodation arrangements to be placed in hotels and not colleges or hostels.
He said, the 365 day celebration towards the theme was amongst efforts to build momentum and public awareness of SEA Games and ASEAN Para Games in Malaysia.
He said the effort was in line with the theme of "Making Unity" which carries a message of community unity through sports. - TVS
