KUCHING, 18 September: Sarawak as co-organizer of SEA Games 2027 will provide services of translators and liaison officers to help contingents from other countries who may not understand Malay or English.

The Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneurship Development of Sarawak Datuk Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah said the service is important to ensure that every contingent receives assistance and guidance throughout their participation in the sporting activities.

"Of course we need to provide a translator because there are some countries in Southeast Asia that may not understand Malay or English.

"The liaison officer who will manage and maintain each contingent will also be there to assist and guide them", he said after inaugurating the Annual Calculation of Seconds Towards SEA Games 2027 Kluster Sarawak here, tonight.

In the meantime, Abdul Karim said that Sarawak Sports Complex will not only be among the main venues for sports events but also feature festival elements including Malaysian Kitchen as well as sales of products and goods.

He said the approach aims to create a more vibrant atmosphere throughout SEA Games as well as provide opportunities for entrepreneurs to showcase and sell their products and goods.

"The construction of the International Broadcasting Centre (IBC) located next to Baitulmakmur building is also going well and was understood ahead of schedule.

"We are focusing on this so that data and information can be easily transmitted to the countries involved because they also want to see what is happening at all times", he said.

The 34th SEA Games will take place from September 18 to 29, 2027.
