KUCHING: Sarawak Energy Berhad (SEB) paid tribute to the commitment and achievement of its contractors in health, safety and environmental (HSE) management at the annual Sarawak Energy HSE Excellence Award 2023.

The award ceremony featured the Contractor Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) Compliance Award or CECA and Contractor Transformation Programme (CTP), highlighting the key contribution of contractors who uphold SEB’s core value that “everybody goes home safely”.

SEB Group chief executive officer Datuk Sharbini Suhaili said since its introduction in 2017, the award has been the organisation’s main platform to recognise the achievement and commitment of the contractors who are fully onboard with SEB in ensuring “everybody goes home safely” and in managing the health, safety and environmental aspects of our projects and operations.

“Contractors have played a vital role in our growth and development over the past decade, working closely with us across the business to advance our goals.

“They have played a key role in helping us power sustainable socio-economic growth in Sarawak and ensure reliable electricity supply for all, thus elevating the standard of living for Sarawakians everywhere.

“That being said, SEB must maintain the strong partnership we currently enjoy with all contractors,” he said in his speech during the HSE Excellence Award 2023 at Pullman Hotel here, yesterday (July 15).

The HSE Excellence Awards 2023 has recognised seven projects under CECA and 32 contractors under CTP.

CECA 2023 saw two contractors awarded gold, four silver, and one certificate of participation for successfully fulfilling the assessment criteria, while for CTP 2023, eight contractors were awarded gold, 15 silver, five bronze and four certificates of participation.

The recipients for gold award for CECA are Sri Data Mining Sdn Bhd and Transgrid Ventures Sdn Bhd and for CTP are EPC Synergy Sdn Bhd, Ciri Kuasa Sdn Bhd, Gabungan Binaan Jurutenaga Sdn Bhd, Hii Brothers Electrical Co., Kejuruteraan Powerpoint Sdn Bhd, Hii Hua Chuon Electrical Works, Sri Datai Mining Sdn Bhd and Timor Kencana Sdn Bhd.

Sharbini congratulate the award recipients for their contributions and efforts.

“I am especially proud of the repeat winners from previous years, who have improved even more on their performance to achieve a higher level this time around.

“However, I would like to remind all of you (the award recipients) that the event does not mark the end of your HSSE journey. This is just the beginning.

“I hope to see all of you at next year’s awards and I look forward to seeing what future successes our continued partnership will bring. Please keep up the good work,” he said.
