KUCHING: Construction of the housing project in the new Sebuyau town is set to commence next month.
The first phase, which is expected to be completed by the second quarter of 2027, will see the construction of 100 two-storey houses, along with essential infrastructure such as roads and drainage systems.
To mark the launch of the project, the Land Custody and Development Authority (LCDA) held a thanksgiving ceremony officiated by Minister of Utility and Telecommunication, Datuk Seri Julaihi Narawi.
Julaihi, who is also Sebuyau assemblyman, said that this housing project, approved by the Sarawak government under the People’s Project initiative, is a key component in the development of the new Sebuyau town.
He added that a total of 235 two-storey houses will be built over 41.28 acres of land, with the development to be carried out in phases.
The housing project aims to provide local residents with the opportunity to own homes in the new town, which will be equipped with various infrastructure facilities such as a mosque, recreational areas, and other commercial developments.
Among those present were LCDA general manager Datuk Seri Zaidi Mahdi, LCDA chief executive officer Hardi Fadillah Hamzah, Sarawak Land and Survey Department director Awang Zamhari Awang Mahmood, and community leaders and village chiefs.
