LIMBANG (Aug 18): Security controls at the country’s border, including those in Sarawak, are up to expectations, says Bukit Aman’s Department of Internal Security and Public Order (JKDNKA) director Datuk Seri Mohd Kamarudin Md Din.

He said this during his working visit to Company C of 12th Battalion General Operations Team (PGA) Limbang yesterday, to review the level of border security control.

“So far, the border control situation is good.

“We will identify the things that can improve border control to avoid leaks or other issues that shouldn’t happen,” he said when met by the media.

Accompanying him on the visit were his wife, also Police Family Association (Perkep) JKDNKA chief Datin Sri Johariah Urib Mohd Ariffin, Company C of 12th Battalion PGA Limbang commander ASP Azhar Mohammad, Perkep Company C of 12th Battalion PGA Limbang chairman Zama’ah Abdul Wahab, and JKDNKA Bukit Aman delegates.

Adding on, Mohd Kamarudin said three new battalions would be established for the Royal Malaysian Police Force (PDRM) in Sabah and Sarawak to further strengthen service delivery and border security control in the regions.

“Two battalions will be established soon in Sabah and another in Sarawak, and we are in the process of strengthening the PGA.

“For now, we have received the new positions and the government had agreed to establish three new battalions.

“With the appointment of the PGA, the profession will be more stable because the main task, apart from the usual task, is border control.

“Also, with the establishments of the three new battalions and our armour leader unit, Insya-Allah (God willing) our border control will be better,” he said.

Mohd Kamarudin added the establishment of the three new battalions could prevent any leakage or invasion by unwanted elements from occurring.

When asked about the dilapidated PGA Limbang staff quarters, he assured his office will be applying for allocations for maintenance work of the facility, which is the main need of its staff members.

“The welfare of officers and staff is always a priority to ensure they perform their duties and responsibilities well.”

Company C of 12th Battalion PGA in Limbang was established in 1969 and was previously known as Company D of 18th Battalion of Police Field Force.

The company currently has a total of 105 staff members and officers on duty.
