Services at police stations as usual, only gates closed after 10pm, says Kuching top cop

KUCHING (July 10): Kuching District police chief ACP Ahsmon Bajah has assured the public that only the gates of the nine police stations in the district will be closed after 10pm, and that personnel will still provide services as usual.

“There will be a police personnel who will be tasked to manned the gates. It (the gates) will be closed but not locked,” he said.

He was speaking to the media in a press conference at the district police headquarters here today.

He said this is among the initiatives by Bukit Aman to strengthen the security of police stations throughout the country.

“We are still waiting for the standard operating procedures (SOP) on how to carry this out,” he added.

Currently, Kuching has nine police stations under the district headquarters namely the Sekama police station, Central police station, Sungai Maong police station, Satok police station, Tabuan Jaya police station, Gita police station, Padungan police station,
Bintawa police station and Santubong police station.

Earlier today, Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Razarudin Husain said the public could lodge complaints and reports as usual, and that the instruction to all police stations will be implemented after the SOP regarding the matter has been presented to Bukit Aman Management Department director Datuk Seri Azmi Kassim.
