KUCHING (Aug 9): Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) today clarified that the photos of a man inside what seemed to be a crocodile trap, was associated with an alleged metal theft case.

According to a spokesperson from the SFC public relations unit, the man was not a mentally disabled person.

“No, he is not ‘mental’. He was pulling the crocodile cage from one side of the river to the other side near Kampung Pulo Hilir.

“He then went into the cage with an alleged intention to cut the metal from within but his attempt failed.

“So he left the cage just as it is,” the spokesperson said, adding that SFC was compelled to upload the photos and post a blurb to create public awareness of the danger possibly lurking at the site.

He declined to give further details.

The photo was uploaded to the SFC Facebook page yesterday and had attracted reactions from netizens, with some of them reacting in jest.

The spokesperson added the man was fortunate enough for not facing any danger.
