SFC, Wildlife Management International sign MoA on wildlife management

DARWIN: A landmark memorandum of agreement (MoA) was signed between the Sarawak Forestry Corporation (SFC) and Wildlife Management International (WMI), marking a new era of collaboration in wildlife management and conservation between Sarawak and Australia’s Northern Territories.

Among those who witnessed the signing ceremony yesterday (Aug 8) at Crocodylus Park here, were Deputy Premier Datuk Amar Awang Ali Hasan, Deputy Minister for Urban Planning, and Land Administration and Environment Datuk Len Talif Salleh.

The MoA focuses on sharing expertise in crocodile management, a critical area for both regions, given their unique ecosystems.

“This agreement represents a commitment to sustainable wildlife management, fostering a collaborative approach in addressing conservation challenges,” said Awang Tengah in a statement.

During the visit, the Sarawak delegation received briefings from experts from the Department of Environment, Parks, and Water Security, as well as the Northern Territory Parks and Wildlife Commission.

Among those presenting advanced conservation techniques and research initiatives were Professor Sam Banks and Professor Dr Grahame Webb.
