SIBU: Today’s youth are the successors who will lead Sarawak’s future, according to Deputy Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development, Datuk Gerald Rentap Jabu.
He said that current leaders are eager to see successors emerge from among the youth.
“Our Premier’s vision is to transform Sarawak into an advanced, high-income state by 2030.
“It’s essential that our youth, from all parts of Sarawak, are prepared to lead this change,” Rentap said in his speech at the Junior Youth Camp Programme at SMK Bukit Assek here today (Nov 19).
The three-day camp, running from November 17 to 19, saw the participation of 89 students from SMK Bukit Assek, SMK Jalan Oya, and SMK Bukit Lima. The programme, an annual initiative by Kem Belia Kemuyang, is designed to develop the potential of young Sarawakians.
Focusing on building essential life skills, leadership qualities, and self-confidence, the camp aimed to prepare students for responsible and disciplined roles in society.
“The skills and values learned here are important for daily life and for aspiring towards a better Sarawak,” he added.
