Sibu Central firefighters, Lanang Volunteer Fire Brigade inspect fire hydrants at Jln Lanang

SIBU (Oct 8): Firefighters from the Sibu Central fire station joined hands with the Lanang Volunteer Fire Brigade to inspect fire hydrants at Lorong 82, Jalan Lanang here today.

This was to ensure the equipment is always in tip-top condition. The location was just outside the service centre of Dewan Rakyat Deputy Speaker Alice Lau.

After the inspection, they painted the two fire hydrants with red paint, as they had yet to be painted.

Lau was also invited to help paint one of the hydrants and become a ‘Friend of the Fire Hydrant’.

Among those present were Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) Zone 4 chief Andy Alie, Sibu Central fire station chief Suna Kaha and Lanang Volunteer Fire Brigade chairman Daniel Ling.

Meanwhile, Ling urged Sibu residents to also register to become ‘Friends of the Fire Hydrant’.

“They can help to look after the fire hydrants in their respective areas by becoming the eyes and ears of the Fire and Rescue Department,” he said.
