SIBU (Oct 24): The repair project at one of the recreational parks in Sibu Jaya here is not fully completed and has yet to be handed over to the Sibu Rural District Council (SRDC), said its chairman Sempurai Petrus Ngelai.
According to him, the SRDC engineering team had carried out site inspections and found that some of the works did not meet the contract requirements and required further repairs.
“SRDC will not compromise with any work that does not meet the contract specifications and will ensure that all work is thoroughly completed before the project is handed over to the council,” he said.
This came following an uploaded video on Facebook where a visitor to the park had his left toenail injured by a protruding nail at the park.
Sempurai also reminded the public not to visit the park for the time being as it is still in the repair process.
“We will instruct the contractor to erect warning signs to ensure the safety of the public. SRDC is always committed to ensure that this project is completed according to specifications before it is opened to the public,” he said.
