SIBU (July 10): SK Pendidikan Khas, SMK Kampung Nangka, SK Sungai Rassau and SJK(C) Ung Nang recently had their facilities upgraded with funds from the Sibu parliamentary constituency’s ‘Program Mesra Rakyat’ (PMR).
Sibu MP Oscar Ling said the upgrading works included the installation of new equipment and school hardware facilities for these schools.
For SK Pendidikan Khas, he said the allocation was used to buy whiteboards, projectors, shoe racks and televisions to improve teaching methods for the deaf and mute students at the school.
“My allocations were also used to buy firewood, planks and plywood to build a small stage for the school to use as a stage for performances,” he said in a statement.
For SMK Kampung Nangka, Ling said the allocation was used to upgrade the basketball court so students have an ideal and safe place to play, practise and keep fit, as well as allowing the school to scout for talented athletes.
SK Sungai Rassau, meanwhile, received televisions and solar lights so its students can learn more from higher technology, he added.
“I also provided materials such as thick grey boards, plywood and planks as well as paint, water pipes and faucets to build canteens in the dormitories so teachers and students can dine in a more comfortable environment.”
For SJK(C) Ung Nang, Ling said the allocation was used to carry out repair works on the roof of the toilets, with the decayed roof beams replaced with iron frames and new zinc tiles.
“Schools are a sacred place that cultivates the future pillars of the country. The Unity Government has the responsibility to improve school equipment so students can study in a safe and comfortable environment,” he said.
