SIBU (Oct 25): The Sibu Water Board (SWB) has repaired leakage in a 600mm Ductile Iron (DI) pipe located after the Durin Bridge at Jalan Durin here.
The leak had caused the recent water supply issue in the Durin area.
In a statement today, SWB said it had immediately initiated pipe repair efforts.
“However, the repair was delayed due to the depth of the pipe, which made it difficult to locate the leakage point. The repair was successfully completed on Oct 25 and the pumping resumed at 4am.
“During this period, the board actively despatched water tankers to supply water to the affected areas, particularly those at higher elevations and the endpoints of the pipeline,” SWB said.
The board said it values the community’s understanding and seeks cooperation in conserving water through prudent usage during this time.
SWB also said its tankers will remain on standby to promptly respond to any further water supply needs.
Additionally, the board said it will improve communication with the community by providing regular updates on service changes and improvements.
“Through these initiatives, the board aims to enhance the efficiency of water delivery and the overall quality of service provided to residents,” added SWB.
