KUCHING, June 10: Residents affected by the power surge incident in Sin San Tu that damaged household appliances and personal belongings have been assured that every effort will be made to secure compensation for their losses.

Political Secretary to the Premier of Sarawak, Kho Teck Wan, together with the GPS N14 Batu Kawah Service Centre team, met affected residents and briefed them on the procedures for filing compensation claims following the June 6 incident.

The power surge left a trail of damaged electrical appliances and other property in a number of homes, prompting concerns among residents over the cost of repairs and replacements.

Kho said the service centre is committed to assisting residents throughout the claims process and ensuring that all legitimate claims are properly submitted and considered for compensation.

“We will do our best to help the affected residents and ensure that rightful claims are compensated,” she said in a statement.

Also present at the briefing were SUPP Batu Kawa chairman Lim Ah Ted, Kapitan Voon, Kapitan Chai, and councillor Gary Yeoh.

Kho also thanked Batu Lintang assemblyman See Chee How for quickly alerting the Batu Kawah Service Centre to the incident and helping coordinate assistance for affected residents.

The briefing was organised to provide residents with clear guidance on the documentation and procedures required to pursue compensation claims arising from the incident. — DayakDaily
