KUCHING, Nov 26: Chinese Swimming Club of Singapore beat Power Aquatics Swimming Club (PASC) of Sarawak in the final by a score of 14-12 to be crowned champion at the 2nd Kuching Invitational Water Polo Cup Competition 2023 held at Pusat Akuatik Pandelela Rinong Petra Jaya, today.

In the Boys Under-16 category, Aegir Water Polo Club, Singapore, secured third place to get the bronze.

In the Women Under-20 category, only two teams competed, and the PASC team bested Negeri Sembilan Tridents Water Polo.

Earlier, PASC president Kapitan Tan Kun Gee expressed hope the event would increase public interest in the club’s efforts to revive the popularity of water sports in Sarawak.

Tan said PASC wanted to attract more youngsters to train as water polo players.

“We want the public to know that water polo is fun and a team sport, not dangerous or violent like as many people think. We are very hopeful and excited to hold the third edition of the Kuching Water Polo Cup in the coming year,” he said.

The invitational event held from Nov 23 to 26, was organised by PASC. Twelve teams took part in this year’s competition, showcasing some of the best talents in the sport.
