SIBU: The Sarawak Indian Society (SIS) has voiced their aspirations for a dialogue with Premier Datuk Patinggi Tan Sri Abang Johari Tun Openg, seeking resolution for community issues.

President Strimari Rajamanikan expressed SIS’s persistent endeavour for a courtesy call with Abang Johari, a request long-pending even predating the pandemic.

“I am sorry that I have to convey my request here (at this event). We hope that Yang Berhormat Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee can convey our message to Premier Abang Johari,” he said.

He said this in his welcoming speech during Deepavali celebration at Juma’ani Tuanku Haji Bujang Welfare Complex (KKJTHB) or formally known as Sarawak Orphans Welfare Association (Peryatim) Sibu here last night (Nov 25).

The celebration was officiated by Deputy Education, Innovation and Talent Development Minister Datuk Dr Annuar Rapaee representing Premier’s wife who is also Peryatim Patron Puan Sri Datuk Amar Juma’ani Tuanku Bujang.

Rajamanikan however did not disclose further on the issue they seek to discuss with Abang Johari.

“We have a few issues (that we have been facing) and only he (Abang Johari) can decide these few things,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr Annuar who is also the Nangka assemblyman said that he will try to convey SIS requests to Abang Johari during the Sarawak State Legislative Assembly (DUN) sitting this Monday (Nov 27).

“I will ensure that the meeting will become a reality. We must ensure that we can help one another regardless of race and religion,” he said.
