SK Agama (MIS) Bintulu team places fourth at national chess championship

BINTULU (Oct 28): SK Agama Majlis Islam Sarawak (MIS) Bintulu placed fourth at the National Level Government Aided Islamic Religious Primary School Chess Championship 2024.

The team secured 35.5 points for a respectable finish among 21 participating schools at the competition in Melaka.

Sekolah Rendah Agama Bersepadu Johor Bahru emerged champion with 44.5 points, followed by Sekolah Rendah Agama Bersepadu Kota Tinggi (39.5 points) and Sekolah Rendah Agama Bersepadu Segamat (38.5 points).

An SK Agama (MIS) Bintulu spokesperson said the competition was intense, with participants demonstrating remarkable skills and strategies.

“Nevertheless, the chess team is determined to continue striving for excellence in future competitions,” she said.

Eight Primary 5 pupils from SK Agama (MIS) Bintulu represented Sarawak in the tournament, which was held at Sekolah Rendah Arab JAIM Batang Tiga Timur in Melaka.
