MULU: Business Events Sarawak (BESarawak) has proudly donated 1,000 books to Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Batu Bungan following a series of successful book drives across the state.
The donation during this morning’s handover ceremony was part of Books Build Legacy, BESarawak’s state-level initiative, which aimed to bridge the gap in educational resources and empower young minds in rural Sarawak.
Today’s event celebrated the importance of community development and the transformative impact of accessible materials on young learners.
“The donations to SK Batu Bungan were collected from two events this year, namely the ‘Connect, Play, Donate’ industry gathering in Kuching and the Sarawak Invitational Interteam Pickleball Challenge 2024 in Miri.
“There is very good progress with this programme which is hopefully inspiring to other organisations looking to make a difference,” said Amelia Roziman, CEO of BESarawak, who presented the books today.
“With only a population of less than 70 pupils, these books will become an important part of their educational journey. We can expect more pupils to take up reading as a new hobby in and outside school.
“Teachers are always looking to enhance our pupils’ learning experiences and academic growth. We appreciate the business events community sharing their generosity with the pupils,” said Michelle Lee, senior assistant of Students’ Affairs at SK Batu Bungan.
BESarawak invites more organisations from all industries to donate to ‘Books Build Legacy’.
