Small fire in Kuching Port Authority Pending office

KUCHING (July 30): A small fire broke out on the ceiling of an office at the Kuching Port Authority Pending Terminal here this afternoon.

Sarawak Fire and Rescue Department (Bomba) spokesperson said they received a distress call at 4.29pm before dispatching teams of firefighters from Tabuan Jaya and Padungan fire stations to the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters saw smoke coming out from Level 1 of the building before proceeding to go up.

“The small fire involved PVP pipes in the ceiling of the IT and QC manager’s room,” the spokesperson said.

Firefighters then proceeded to extinguish the fire and ventilated the building to purge the smoke.

After ensuring the situation was under control, the teams returned to their respective stations.

The cause of the fire is still being investigated.
