KUCHING: Bandar Kuching MP Dr Kelvin Yii has allocated RM75,400 to SMK Batu Lintang to upgrade the school’s library and address pressing issues such as termite damage, inadequate air conditioning and lack of parking spaces.
He said the allocation is aimed at rectifying these problems to create a conducive learning environment.
“We know the school library facilities such as the partition wall have been severely eaten by termites, and some of the old air-conditional unit is not functioning well.
“In addition, the school’s existing parking spaces are very limited, forcing teachers and staff to park on the roadside and blocking the access of other vehicles,” he said on his Facebook post today.
Earlier today, Dr Yii officiated at the Student Excellence Appreciation Ceremony at SMK Batu Lintang here.
He also urged students to not only excel academically but also to cultivate a broader perspective, strengthen critical thinking, and uphold humility and good character to succeed in their future careers.
“Excellent academic performance is important, but it does not mean everything. If you want to become a better version of yourself, you must improve yourself and change yourself.
“I also encourage students to establish appropriate interpersonal networks, make new friends, learn from each other’s shining points, support and help each other, and even become talents in life,” he added.
