KUCHING (Aug 12): Social Security Organisation (Socso), in collaboration with Bandar Kuching parliamentary office, will be holding a MyFutureJobs Career Carnival and Socso Housewives’ Social Security Scheme programme at Boulevard Shopping Mall here this weekend (Aug 17 to 18).

The two-day programme will be held at the event hall located at Level 1 of the shopping mall from 10am to 5pm.

Speaking at a press conference today, Bandar Kuching Member of Parliament (MP) Dr Kelvin Yii said a total of 1,440 vacancies across various sectors in Sarawak, with some in Peninsular Malaysia, will be offered during the carnival.

“Socso will also be setting up a career counselling counter at the carnival to assist applicants in increasing their chance of success in interviews. The services provided at the counter include resume preparation and employment guidance and advice,” said Dr Yii at the press conference held at the Socso Sarawak head office here.

Thus, The Bandar Kuching MP urged job seekers, especially youngsters, to take advantage of the upcoming career carnival to apply for a suitable job position, as well as registering with Socso to connect them with potential employers who are not participating in the career fair.

Moreover, Dr Yii’s office will be sponsoring the Socso housewives’ social security scheme to an amount totalling RM24,000 for 200 beneficiaries at the event, whereby each housewife will be provided social protection under the Socso scheme worth RM120 a year.

The benefits under the Socso housewives’ social security scheme include medical benefit, permanent disablement benefit, constant attendance allowance, physical rehabilitation or dialysis facilities, funeral benefit and survivors’ pension.
