KUCHING (Aug 14): The Malaysian Armed Forces foiled an attempt last Saturday by eight foreigners to enter Sarawak illegally, near Biawak in Lundu.

The First Infantry Division said Armed Forces and Indonesian National Army personnel were conducting joint patrols when they noticed one woman and seven men walking attempting to cross into Malaysia approximately 200 metres from the Indonesian border near Biawak at 11.35am.

“Investigations found that the undocumented foreigners are between 18 and 48 years old.

“Checks on their belongings found only their cash, mobile phones, wallet and a bag of clothes, worth up to RM6,196. No contraband items were found on them,” said the First Infantry Division in a statement.

All eight were taken to the border for deportation back to Indonesia, it added.
