Abdul Karim performs the kick-off as gimmick to mark the official opening of the new stadium.
KAPIT (Feb 14): Song District now has its own sports stadium, following the official handing-over of the certificate of practical completion from the appointed contractor.
Present to symbolically accept the letter from a representative of Fias Enterprise was Katibas assemblyman Lidam Assan, during a special ceremony held at the new stadium, where Sarawak Minister of Youth, Sports and Entrepreneur Development Sarawak Dato Sri Abdul Karim Rahman Hamzah officiated at the event.
Sited at Jalan Tekan in the district, which is about an hour’s drive from here, the facility incurred a cost of RM4.798 million.

The works kicked off Nov 25, 2024, and reached completion on Dec 5 last year.
It also has a full-fledged running track.
“I hope with this brand new sports stadium, the Song folks would be encouraged to take up sports more actively.
“Utilise this facility to the fullest,” said Lidam in his opening remarks.
