KUCHING: Structural and human resource reforms are at the forefront of efforts to boost civil service productivity and efficiency.
These new initiatives are aimed at enhancing the performance and adaptability of civil servants across various government departments.
In this respect Ministry of National Unity secretary-general Datuk Azman Mohd Yusof said the key focus of the Prime Minister’s address during the Majlis Amanat Perdana Perkhidmatan Awam (MAPPA) on Friday (Aug 16) was the introduction of the Public Service Remuneration System (SSPA), a critical component of the broader civil service reform agenda.
He added that the reform is integral to advancing the Malaysia Madani agenda, a vision that seeks to create a more inclusive and progressive nation.
“In response to the Prime Minister’s call for reform, the ministry has pledged to make significant strides towards strengthening the Ministry’s structure and enhancing human resource competencies,” it said.
Besides, he said the ministry has already begun to streamline its operations by consolidating various divisions to better align with its goal of delivering excellent performance.
“One of the immediate changes will involve the rotation of top management within the ministry,” he said.
Additionally, he said the ministry will also place a strong emphasis on human resource development.
“The ministry plans to a focus on functional competencies to ensure personnel are knowledgeable, competent, and consistently improving their performance to achieve the set targets,” he said.
He also said that the ministry will also focus on business process re-engineering.
This initiative aims to bring services closer to the people, eliminating the need for them to visit ministry premises by providing more accessible and efficient services.
