KUCHING, June 29: St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish is calling on the public to rally behind its Family Day 2026 on July 5, as it seeks to raise RM400,000 for the upkeep of the Archdiocesan Curia and Cathedral Pastoral Centre (ACCPC).
According to a press release, the half-day event will be held at the ACCPC building and surrounding areas, bringing together food, entertainment and community activities aimed at strengthening parish fellowship and supporting church development needs.
Organisers said more than 70 stall operators have already signed up, with the grounds expected to come alive with food and beverage sales, merchandise stalls, music and dance performances, as well as family-friendly games and activities.
Launched on Jan 18, the Parish Family Day (PFD) is one of the key fundraising initiatives for the ACCPC building, which serves as an archdiocesan facility under St Joseph’s Cathedral, the mother church of the Archdiocese of Kuching.
Beyond fundraising, the event is positioned as a major gathering to deepen unity, fellowship and participation among Catholics across the city and neighbouring parishes.
Pre-event sales activities have been ongoing since earlier this year, helping to build momentum ahead of the main celebration.
The parish is encouraging Catholics and members of the public to take part, support the initiative and contribute to the fundraising effort through attendance and participation.
The Family Day is organised by the St Joseph’s Cathedral Parish and Pastoral Council. — DayakDaily
